Girls’ Attainment in Basic Literature and Education (GABLE)

Project Overview
Addressing the need to improve primary education overall and widely held attitudes which placed a low value on the education of girls, TMG increased allocations of the total Government of Malawi budget to the education sector and the primary sub-sector.

Project Description
Additionally, TMG implemented measures that contributed increased access and persistence of girls in primary education, established a Primary Pupil Registration System to provide essential information concerning the flow and performance of students, revised the primary school curriculum to be more gender sensitive, and provided financial and budgetary support.
