Project Description

USAID/India Mission awarded the Final Performance Evaluation of two THALI projects contract to The Mitchell Group (TMG) In order to evaluate THALI’s (KHPT and WHP activities) contributions towards India’s TB Control Program.

The THALI project aims to establish a holistic approach to TB control efforts in 24 districts in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states in India by helping identify, apply and scale up successful innovative approaches to addressing TB and MDR-TB, especially among under- or inadequately served urban slum dwellers and other low-income populations. THALI strengthens urban TB control in India with an emphasis on private sector providers and diagnosis and treatment of MDR-TB. The multiple THALI awards have the goal of gaining a ten percent improvement in national tuberculosis (TB) notification rates and improving TB treatment success rates across India over four years. The THALI project includes two activities namely (I) the Karnataka Health Promotion Trust (KHPT) and (II) Targeted Response and Action in Kolkata against Tuberculosis (TRAK-TB).

TMG brought in a team of international development programs evaluation experts to provide findings, statistics, and recommendations that will assist THALI Project, its sub-partners, and USAID/India to confirm what has been accomplished; to help determine what components and project aspects worked well, which did not and why; and will help to make informed decisions for future designs. While evaluating the THALI project activities, the evaluation team will also assess the broader TB strategy of the USAID/India Mission and suggest modifications in its approach, strategy and implementation for effective management and added value.
