The National School of Applied Economics (ENEA) Rural Management Training Project

TMG assisted ENEA in redirecting its training program for lower- and middle-level rural development cadres by including management skills in project design, implementation, and evaluation in its curriculum. Building on an established training system which combined classroom teaching with extensive field training, TMG enabled ENEA to better respond to the needs of the Government of Senegal (GOS) user agencies by developing and institutionalizing a program of in-service training for agents in the field, most of whom are ENEA graduates.

Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) Co-Financing Project

USAID/Dominican Republic (DR): TMG improved the well being of the geographically and economically isolated lower income groups in the DR by increasing the capacity of Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOS) to deliver selected services and other resources. Two main components composed this project: establishment of a PVO Development Fund and development of a Fund Administration Mechanism to undertake the review and implementation processes.

Gambia Oilseed Promotion Project

TMG supported Catholic Relief Services in their supervision of a food and nutrition program, which improved or maintained the nutritional states of participating children. Mothers, in return for economic aid they received in the form of food, committed themselves to insuring that their children grow properly. Participants also engaged in income-generating activities to enhance the economic status of themselves as well as the community.

Ethiopia Family Planning Reproductive Health (FP/RH)

In 2005, USAID/Ethiopia awarded a contract to TMG to conduct a mid-term evaluation to assess the PI/E’s progress to date and to make recommendations for changes as needed in project direction. TMG’s evaluation team was comprised of 16 persons, including representatives from the Global Health Bureau of USAID/Washington, Ethiopian representatives from Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MOFED), the National Office of Population, and the Regional Health Bureaus of the project’s four focus regions, and independent consultants from the U.S. and Ethiopia. The evaluation methodology included briefings with USAID/Ethiopia project managers, Pathfinder staff and Ministry of Health leaders in Addis Ababa, and field observations in the four Project regions.

Haiti Education 2004 Project

TMG served as subcontractor to the Academy for Educational Development for this contract. The overall objective of this program is to provide technical services to USAID/Haiti to promote literacy and numeracy by improving the quality of educational instruction and administrative efficiency in Haitian primary schools and to provide support to the Haitian primary education sector. TMG supported this program objective by providing long-term technical assistance in the areas of financial management and support services. TMG fielded a Financial Management Specialist who managed a grant to the Haitian umbrella primary education NGO, FONHEP, and continued to provide financial management assistance to this organization. The TMG Financial Management Specialist oversaw and managed the subcontracting process for Haitian NGOs to carry out ED2004 activities and managed the process for grants to operations research. TMG also hired a Training, Grants and Office Manager and assisted in procuring textbooks and other school materials and arranged for their distribution to schools.
