Assessment of Programs Funded under the Agriculture Exports and Rural Incomes (AERI) Bilateral Agreement

Project Overview
TMG conducted an assessment of the overall approach, impact, and sustainability of programs funded under USAID/Egypt’s Agriculture Exports and Rural Incomes (AERI) Bilateral Agreement from 2006-2010.
Countries: Egypt
Region: Middle East and North Africa
Project Description
The goal of AERI was to increase rural incomes and employment in southern Egypt. This was to be done by strengthening the competitiveness of the horticulture and livestock sectors through and expansion of access to essential technologies, skills, and markets. TMG selected a technical approach that combined quantitative surveys (an aggregation of key performance indicators) with qualitative mythologies, such as focus group discussions and in-depth interviews among key informants, and focused upon perceptions of the programs’ strategic approaches, effectiveness and sustainability. Through the assessment, TMG provided USAID/Egypt with lessons learned, recommendations for changes in ongoing programs, and suggestions for new programs.
