Assessment and Development of Administrative Infrastructure for NIAID Foreign Grants and Contracts

Project Overview
To perform onsite international financial systems reviews and provide related administrative technical assistance that support the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) grant, cooperative agreement, and contact awardees.
Client: NIAID
Region: Worldwide
Project Description
Supporting NIAID’s grant, cooperative agreement and contract awardees, TMG’s work covers four broad categories:
- Assessment and development of administrative infrastructure for foreign institutions;
- Extramural development workshops and training;
- Pre- and post-award meetings and training;
- Developing, updating, and maintaining standard operation procedures for the management of NIAID research awards.
Assessment and development of administrative infrastructure for foreign institutions involves evaluating reporting systems, approved budgets, invoicing and tracking of funds, as well as, overall internal procedures to evaluate compliance with applicable NIH and NIAID policies and procedures. The assessment team travels to the foreign sites to perform these assessments.
Development workshops and pre- and post-award meetings and training comports the training component of the work to increase international institution’s capacity to improve their management of USG funds and ensure compliance with applicable NIH and NIAID rules and regulations.
In addition to the training component, noted above, TMG works with individual international awardees to develop or improve upon their internal procedures to ensure a robust administrative and financial management structure that can meet or exceed NIAID’s best practices. This promotes strong internal systems that allow awardees the tools to easily comply with all the policies and procedures tied to their award from NIAID.
