TMG and Major Partner, IMC Worldwide, Prepare for OFDA Evaluation in Nepal

The Mitchell Group (TMG) and major partner, IMC Worldwide (IMC), meet in Nepal this week to initiate a performance evaluation for the Office of Foreign Assistance (OFDA).

This evaluation focuses on two ongoing Disaster Rick Reduction (DRR) projects funded by OFDA in Nepal between 2010 and 2016. The (2) two projects are the Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) and  the Building Code Implementation Program in Municipalities of Nepal (BCIPN).

A Gendered Analysis of Violent Extremism: Debunking the Myth

Under the Mitchell Group (TMG)’s Evaluation and Analytical Services (EAS)  Project, TMG undertook an analysis of the role of gender in countering violent extremism (CVE). In late 2016, the TMG team led by Professor. Susan Merrill, Senior Research Specialist, and Lauren Eason, Senior Research Coordinator of the WomenStats Project, conducted a desk study of existing literature to answer key questions regarding the women in violent extremist organizations (VEOs) in West Africa with a focus on Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Mali, Nigeria, and Niger. TMG and UPitt Speak at the 59th Annual Africa Studies Association Meeting

Held at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel in downtown Washington, DC, the 59th Annual Africa Studies Association conference featured Africanists from around the world.  Often well-attended, the conference covered a wide range of topics from countering violent extremism (CVE) to the elections in a variety of African countries.  For The Mitchell Group (TMG) and University of Pittsburg (UPitt) staff involved in the  Evaluation and Analytical Services Project (EAS), the conference gave key staff an opportunity to discuss the research methodology of 3 significant quantitative and qualitative statistical studies to determine the impact of a USAID-funded $62.0 million project ...

SAREL Wins CLA Case Competition

SAREL was recently chosen as one of five recipients of USAID’s CLA Case Competition. The purpose of this competition was to source examples of CLA in action among USAID missions and implementing partners. 63 qualifying entry from 11 USAID missions and operating units and 38 implementing partners in 27 countries were submitted. From a pool of 27 finalists, five cases were selected to receive awards and be featured in a CLA showcase this fall. You can read the full article, entitled “Encouraging a CLA Culture” here.
